Options to get to McGill from the airport:

  • When arriving in Montreal at the Pierre-Elliot Trudeau airport, the easiest way to get to campus is by Taxi or Uber. The fare from the airport to the University is roughly $50-60 CAD depending on the trip.
  • While public transit is generally a good option, unless a deal is reached before the conference, there is a transit strike planned for the entire month of November. Buses and metros will only run in the morning and afternoon rush hours for 3 hours each, and again for 2 hours in the late evening. Details here

  • There are also public transit options. The 747 bus runs regularly (Roughly every 10 minutes during peak times, every half hour off-peak), which will take you to Lionel-Groulx metro on the green line, and connects directly to the Peel and McGill Metro stations.

  • Bus and train fare are identical and require an OPUS card or tickets to board, there are stations for purchasing transit passes at YUL airport near the exit. For reference, the entire island of Montreal, including McGill university and the airport are within transit Zone A.

Thomson House is located close to the Peel metro station. The walk is uphill and takes ~9 minutes. McGill Campus lies between the Peel and McGill metro stations.

The metro in Montreal is a very reliable and fast way to travel the city, and when booking accommodation it is beneficial to check if you're staying nearby a metro station.

  • We don't recommend renting a car. Parking in downtown and around McGill is very limited and expensive. Accommodation an be found within a 10-15 minutes walking distance from the venue

Weather in Montreal in November

  • In November, Montreal is cold, transitioning to winter conditions with average daily high temperatures around 5-7°C (41-45°F) and average lows dipping to -1 to -4°C (25-30°F). Expect rain, with chances of snow.
