DESCRIPTION:Speakers: Sam Lakerdas-Gayle (Cornell Center for Astrophysics
and Planetary Science)\nStripped-envelope core-collapse supernovae are the
violent explosions that mark the death of a massive star that had some or
all of its outer H and He layers stripped off. One class of stripped-enve
lope supernovae is the rare Type Ic-BL\; these are the only events associa
ted with the detection of a long-duration gamma-ray bursts\, but it is sti
ll unclear why only some Ic-BLs accompany a gamma-ray burst detection. Rad
io observations probe the gas in the vicinity of a supernova\, which conte
xtualizes the lives of highly stripped stars and can tell us about which s
tars may produce a gamma-ray burst. In this talk\, I will present radio ob
servations of SN2022xxf\, the nearest Ic-BL to date and discuss how its do
uble-peaked light curve reveals the complex stripping mechanisms that shap
 e these rare events.\n\nhttps://nyx.physics.mcgill.ca/event/587/contributi
